Imprinting Defect (3% of AS individuals)

Imprinting is a chemical adjustment of DNA acting as an “identification tag” to specify which parent donated the chromosome.  If the defective imprinting transpired on chromosome 15 inherited from the mother, then there will be no expression of the genes in the 15q11-13 section. [1]
