LMNA

LMNA (officially known as lamin A/C) provides instructions for making proteins[1] (lamins). Lamins A and C are almost identical to amino acids[2]; they are made in most of the body’s cells. The only difference between lamins A and C is the strengh of Lamin A.

         [3]

Both lamins A and C are structural proteins called intermediate filament proteins.  These proteins provide  the cells with strength and stability. The lamins are

the support system for the nuclear envelope. Lamins A and C are located  in the nuclear lamina, which is made from the intermediate filaments[4] that are attached to the inner membrane of the nuclear envelope. The nuclear envelope controls the movement of molecules in and out of the nucleus.

The protein  lamin A must be processed in the cell before becoming a part of the lamina. In it’s primary form (prelamin A), it goes through a series of steps for the protein to be able to be included in the lamina. Lamin C does not have to go through this process to join in with the lamina.[5]

Maybe a link to Dictionary.com for definitions of protein, lamina, intermediate filament, etc. Check your spelling....Lamin/Lamina,
