Uncle Tom's Cabin was written by Harriet Beecher Stowe in 1851. This novel described the fight of blacks to rid themselves of slavery and described the life of the average slave. It was considerd an instant success and has sold millions of copies. Even today, many students are required to read this novel in schools.
