I really liked the idea of creating a wiki instead of a Powerpoint, but the editing program was kind of buggy.

I liked the project as well. It was a very good way to integrate technology with education. However, I feel like a lot more of this project could have been done outside of class. Though the genetic disorders were fascinating, I think we would have been better served by doing a few lectures in class about the chapters. Not that I would want the project to be cut, but maybe just done more on our own time.

I thought it was a fresh and new idea for a project, but I too got most of it completed at home (editing program issues). The school computers, when all being used at once, work a lot slower. Also, a more distinct criteria should have been presented. I like that it was open ended and student derived, but with that comes potential to lose points over things were we unaware of. Very interactive project, and a good way to learn about multiple genetics disorders without listening to a boring lecture. I know that wiki's (such as wikipedia) are not considered "credible" sources, but in the future I'm sure they will be. After all, our assignment was to produce a wiki of our own, with the assumption that all of our information would be correct and sited properly. I tried to find specific pictures (of a protein complex) and the only place i could find a clear image was Wikipedia, but I could not use it, taking away from my presentation. As we saw in Mrs. Young's demonstration, Wikipedia blocks users who present false information, creating a high level accuracy for the site. After all, there is always someone out there who thinks, "I'm right, you're wrong," and makes changes to the presented information. (Of course, there are those instances where false information is on wikipedia and has not yet had the chance to be reviewed and removed.) I found all my information on wikipedia, then proceded to search for the same information on more "credible" sites. I found this to be a partical waste of time, for the sake of formality.

i liked the project. it was better than doing something like a poster or powerpoint. i also liked that there were not a lot of rules to follow and we could choose our own disorder.

I think that the overall project was new, and a good way to learn about our topic. But, in the process of that, the program we are using was hard to get used to and to understand. I had several problems with the editing of pages, and logging in was always difficult. Overall this project was enjoyable, and we had a very easy schedule to complete this project.

I liked that we had free reign to pick our own disorder. I didn't like how buggy and complicated it is to make a wiki, i felt like i spent more time trying to figure out the wiki site than i did actually working on the genetic disorder.

At first when you explained the project it sounded a bit confusing, but as I started the project it made more sense. The wiki was a new idea for a project. It really made you get a better sense of the disease you were researching. There was some logging in and editing problems sometimes. But overall the project became easier and interesting.

I liked the idea and wikis in general are easy to work with but this particular site made it more complicated and took away from the project. Time that couldve ben better spent researching was spent tryn to figure out the website

I liked the project because it was more interesting than just doing a powerpoint or paper. There were a lot of problems about the wiki pages though. There were people linking onto other people's pages by accident and then ruining other people's pages. The project was more of a learning process to figure out how to work the wiki page itself, other than actually putting in more time with the gentic disorder. I really feel that it is a good idea, but could be improved through a lot more organization.

On an overall basis, the wiki was a creative concept. I didn't just learn background on a genetic disorder, but I also learned how to make a website (Wiki)! Sweet! I thought that it was very easy to work as a group in that one person could add content and the other could edit the content without being in the same room. It was a very convenient working environment. It was fairly simple to access the projects of other groups and criticize their lack of depth (Mike/Jake). Also, I did find problems with the editing program, and it sometimes created problems. But all in all, the project was a success, and we will be revealing the cure to cystic fibrosis in the near future, on Saturday Night Live.

On a whole the wiki was a good idea. I not only learned information pretaining to a genetic disorder, but I leaned a new way to group data. Splendid! I pondered the concept that it was quite simple in that one individual could import material while the person could edit it separately. It was easy. The main issue I faced was with editing, it was pretty awful. On more than one occasion I would have to edit the same material 3 or 4 times before it would finally change to the way I wanted.

I think this project was very well designed. I t was very cool to work with a wiki instead of doing a boring old powerpoint. The only problem i had was that it was hard to edit sometimes and it got a little buggy sometimes.

I did like this project beacuse it didn't wasn't a powerpoint, bu tit was kind of difficult creating one, especially because I have never in my life made a web site of any sorts. Now that i somewhat under stand though, it seems easier.

I enjoyed this project a lot. It was something new that i haven't done in a class before; usually we just do powerpoints or posters. Also, I really liked how this took the place of a final. That was a huge relief.

I liked the idea as doing a project for a final exam rather than a test. It makes the week of finals a lot less stressful as well. Despite the technological issues, i thought the wiki page was easy to create. One thing i did have a problem with was uploading pictures. When i uploaded a different picutre to put on a different page, it changed mypicture on the home page, and i dont quite understand why. overall, it was alot of fun researching my disorder and creating a webpage.

I totally agree that this was an acceptable alternative for a final. Instead of simply reviewing knowledge that we have already mastered, the wiki provides an outlet to apply what we know to create something. Also, it taught me computer skills that I wouldn't normally have known. Overall, I would do it again.

I really liked the project. I think that the wiki is more flexible than a powerpoint, allowing more links and videos. The problem was that the editing program wasn't always that flexible. It was difficult to add pictures how we preffered, and it didn't allow many types of HTML codes that were found on the class links. Overall, this was a fun and interesting alternative to a final or powerpoint.

Personally, I would have rather done a Powerpoint, mainly because I know how to use it. It was time consuming to learn a new method of presenting information. I especially disliked the editing/formatting of the wiki, I had so many problems with it. With some upgrades/improvement this could definitely be very easy to use and advantageous.

I liked doing this instead of a powerpoint. It was nice having a change of pace instead of doing outlines and quizes.

I enjoyed this project a lot. It was different than other classes in the way of being creative instead of just a normal test. The program for editing was a little shaky but other than that i liked the idea a lot.

I liked doing this project because it was different from every other project that we normally do in classes. I also liked not having a lot of guidelines and being able to choose what to include on our pages.

I really enjoyed this project. It was nice to be able to learn in school how to work with new technology on the internet. I thought the wiki was easy to use, although I had problems logging in on the school computers. My main concern is that it was difficult to find pictures related to the genetic disorder I was working on.

I thought the wiki was a good way to end the trimester. The wiki page was way more fun to make than a normal powerpoint like in other classes. However it was a little bit difficult finding out how to edit the page, but after a few tries, the process was memorized.

I felt that the wiki was a very effective project. It was a good way for us to learn about genetic diseases and also be able to demonstrate our creative sides. The only thing that was rather difficult was to find pictures that were related to some of the topics of our disorder.

I really enjoyed doing this project. Though figuring out the wiki was difficult at times, it wasn't a powerpoint so it was more enjoyable. I learned a lot about many different diseases, so that was cool, but I wish we would have gone over the chapters a bit more during class instead of spending so much time in the lab. Overall, i think it was a great idea to do this project.

* Tell us what kind of comments we should be making on others wiki's, whether they should be simple complements on organization of the site or deep analysis of the site/disorder presented on each wiki.

This project was very enjoyable and i liked doing the wiki page instead of a final. Doing this helped me learn about new disorders that i had no idea existed and also allowed to me to explore my knowledge of computers, which was limited. It also allowed us to go out of focus on our main course and do something that would interest everyone in the end and be enjoyable. Overall, it was one of the most fun projects and would do it again.

I really like the project but after the first day i realized that it would need a lot of work. It's easier to design a PPP but with a wiki you go more in depth because you read a lot of sources and so you learn more about your project. I had some problems with the scientific vocabulary at the beginning but the more I read the more I learned. I think everyone did a great job. My topic was ok but when i looked at the other wiki pages I saw some topics which would be more intresting.
To sum up it's of cause it's better than a final Exam ;)

i enjoyed doing a project over the disorders compared to learning out of the book, doing vocabulary quizzes, and doing outlines but i did not really enjoy doing a wiki. i thought it was very difficult to create and got very confusing at some points. i think that a better idea would be to do a longer powerpoint where all the same information would be leaned but it would not be as confusing and maybe since the project would be easier to create we could present them to the class for some more points. the part i did like about the wiki was that we did not need to go by a rubric and we had freedom to create our wiki in any fashion that we felt was necessary. i think we should do some more projects like this in the second trimester because i felt like i learned the information better than just doing notes and quizzes. overall i enjoyed the project though even though i feel a few changes could have been made.
