An Inconvenient Truth

An Inconvenient Truth is an Oscar winning movie created by former Vice-President Al Gore.  In this film Mr. Gore gives a lecture about his opinion on the global climate shift situation.  He presented his touring the slide show, in which he exposed upon his belief that the globe is getting hotter due to an increase in greenhouse gasses. He rallies for support of the Kyoto Protocol, and attacks the current administration for lack of effort to protect the planet.

Gore exposes upon his history at Harvard with Robert Revelle, an early expert in the field. He discusses the scientific opinion of global warming, as well as the political and economic Consequences of a global climate destabilization. The film revolves around the correlation between carbon levels and the increase in the global mean temperature. Gore discusses the major point of the melting of Ice caps and the resulting rise in sea level.

Positive Response

The film garnered the 2006 Oscar for best documentary, and is the fourth highest grossing documentary of all time. It also lays claim to boosting awareness of a global climate destabilization. The film has sparked other movies including The 11th Hour staring Leonardo DiCaprio

Negative Response

The movie has been met with severe criticism. Many scientists have claimed that Gore has greatly over exaggerated his claims in the movies. Many scientists have claimed that the carbon levels are the result of rising temperatures not visa-versa. At the forefront of this criticism is the British Documentary The Great Global Warming Swindle.
